Overview – IIIP

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The department is set up with the key objective to strengthen the business/research collaboration between university and industries, as well as to support UniKL’s long-term financial sustainability. Since its inception in 2009, the department succeeded in registering UniKL Business School’s franchise/offshore programs outside of Peninsula Malaysia. Today, the IIIP sector is ready to explore new opportunities and make new achievements on the back of recovering Malaysia economy. With the right strategies coupled with committed team members, the department is confident in sustaining its upward momentum.

2.0 ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The department is led by Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak Abdul Hadi and he is assisted by three deputies – Dr. Firdaus Hilmi Nadzri, Mr. Mohd Hisham Hashim, Mr. Mahfuz Abd Malek. Two officers are also attached to the department – Ms. Irfa Irsaliny Ibrahim and Mr. Muhammad Nizam Shamsudin. As the name implies, the department is responsible for carrying out tasks and activities related to executive education, internationalization and industrial linkages. The university international office is also under the purview of IIIP.

3.0 OUR BUSINESS MODEL

Our business model is well explained in the business model canvas below. Specifically, the revenue structure is fortified by seven revenue streams; those are (a) Fees from Executive MBA Programs (b) Fees from Short Courses (c) Fees from Consultancy (d) Fees from Franchise Programs & International Students Mobility (e) Fees from Seminars and Conferences (f) Fees from Professional Training Program – e.g. ACCA and CPA (Australia) (g) Income from JV Business with Salihin Audit Firm. We believe in lean management and adopt cost effective approach.

4.0 STRATEGIC ROADMAP

Our strategic roadmap involves business strategies targeting at both government and private sectors. In exploring potential government markets, we streamline our marketing effort on ministries and government agencies. On the private sector, our effective approach will be on government-linked companies, particularly those listed in Bursa Malaysia. The details are shown in the diagram below.

5.0 BUSINESS OUTLOOK 2021 – 2025

Despite the slow global economic recovery, we are still optimistic about the business prospects in the near future. In fact, a number of prospective projects have been identified for this year.

6.0 ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT MODEL

In line with the university’s vision, it is our hope to see 3% of our students to take up entrepreneurship as their future career. As such, we have reviewed a number of entrepreneurship development models and decided to adopt the three-phase approach. The model helps student grasp the true entrepreneurial skills after his/her two year’s incubation period.

7.0 INDUSTRIAL PARTNERSHIP

Industrial collaboration is important as it provides an effective platform not only for industrial placement but also an access to research and innovation agenda in the business community. In view of this, we have worked together with a number of companies in executing projects locally and internationally. At present, we focus on strategic collaboration with small and medium size enterprises, particularly those that involved in services and consumer products sectors.
